How to Install Left Right LED Headlights

LED headlights have a variety of advantages over traditional bulbs. However, these benefits depend on how they are installed and aimed. This is why it is important to follow the instructions in the installation manual.

Ensure the LEDs have one flat side facing 3 o’clock and the other 9 o’clock. This will help achieve a balanced beam pattern.

High Luminance

There are many factors that contribute to the luminous output of headlights. One of the most important is the LED light chip. It determines not only the wattage but also the beam pattern. When you choose a LED headlight, be sure to check the light chip width. The smaller it is, the more focused the light will be. It will help to avoid blinding oncoming drivers while providing you with quality forward lighting that can reach far down the road.

In addition to the light chip, the arrangement and number of LED lamp beads is also crucial. For example, flip-chip LED bulbs use a rectangular array that can produce wider light beam patterns. This can be helpful for highway driving, where the light needs to cover a greater distance. Then, compare the marked height to the VOR or VOL markings in your owner’s manual to ensure that you’re aiming your headlights correctly. Wide Range of Beam Patterns

The quality of LED headlight bulbs depends largely on the shape and alignment of the chips inside. The thinner the space between lamp beads on both sides of the chip, the better the light beam pattern. This is especially important because the high-beam cutoff line is usually closer to the vertical zero line than in halogen bulbs. A poor or improperly aimed bulb can cause blinding glare oncoming drivers. With some bulbs, like the GTR Lighting CSP Mini shown here on the left, there are no extra pieces. It’s shaped just like the original halogen bulb, and it comes with a mount that just needs to be pushed in and twisted. Other bulbs, like the Morimoto 2 Stroke shown on the right, do require some extra work to separate them. They also come with a smaller mount that you need to push in and twist, but it’s still very straightforward.

For this video we’re using the SV4 from GTR Lighting, but it works the same with any other H4 LED bulb that you’re going to use on your Veloster VT or Xenon Depot Extreme. Just be sure to pay attention to which side of the bulb is the high beam. If you put it in backwards, you’ll have a terrible looking beam pattern. If you turn it in the correct direction, you’ll have a great looking light.
